When Darktrace decided to bring their Sydney and Melbourne offices together for an epic Multi-City Amazing Race, there was one very important question. Which city would claim the ultimate bragging rights?

Would Sydney prove they were the team to beat? Or would Melbourne show their northern colleagues how it’s done? There was only one way to settle it. Let the race begin!

Two Cities, One Race and Some Seriously Competitive Colleagues!

Who says a Corporate Amazing Race needs to happen in just one city?

For Darktrace, we took the competition interstate! Teams in Sydney and Melbourne competed simultaneously in their own cities, taking on identical challenges and battling for points. While our Sydney Amazing Race teams raced around their city, the Melbourne Amazing Race teams were doing exactly the same thing hundreds of kilometres away.

Every team faced the same challenges, creating a level playing field for the ultimate interstate showdown. And the best part? Everyone was connected through one live leaderboard!

Throughout the race, teams could track their competitors’ scores in real time. Every completed challenge meant more points, while a successful bonus challenge could send a team flying up the rankings. With the leaderboard constantly changing, nobody could afford to get too comfortable!

Roadblocks, Bonus Points and a Little Interstate Sabotage!

Of course, we couldn’t host a Sydney vs Melbourne Amazing Race without throwing in a few surprises. And what better way to spice things up than allowing teams to sabotage their interstate rivals?

That’s right! Our Multi-City Amazing Race included the opportunity to roadblock teams in the opposite city. Sydney teams could roadblock Melbourne competitors, while Melbourne could return the favour. And believe us, they didn’t need much encouragement!

Suddenly, teams weren’t just focused on completing their own challenges. They were also watching the leaderboard, plotting their next move and deciding when to cause a little chaos interstate. After all, why simply beat your colleagues when you can make their race a little more difficult along the way?

Meanwhile, dramatic bonus points kept everyone on their toes. A team sitting comfortably near the top could suddenly find themselves slipping down the rankings. Likewise, one clever move could send another team charging towards the lead.

With teams competing in two different cities, this wasn’t your average Corporate Amazing Race.

Our Sydney and Melbourne Amazing Race experiences were linked through one shared competition. As a result, everyone was racing towards the same goal, despite being hundreds of kilometres apart.

Each team had to think quickly, solve clues and work together to maximise their score. However, they also had to keep one eye on their interstate rivals. After all, there’s nothing quite like seeing your colleagues in another city overtake you on a live leaderboard!

The competition was fierce, the energy was high and the interstate banter was well and truly alive. Most importantly, the race gave Darktrace employees a shared experience that connected both offices.

The winning Sydney team claimed victory, along with the all-important right to remind their Melbourne colleagues about it for the foreseeable future. However, the real highlight was seeing Darktrace’s two offices come together for one unforgettable Corporate Amazing Race.

There were challenges, plenty of laughs and just enough friendly sabotage to keep everyone on their toes. And while Melbourne might be calling for a rematch, Sydney can enjoy their moment at the top.
