From Sandcastles to AI Fails… This Gold Coast Amazing Race Had It All

When your annual conference brings people together from all over the world, you need something memorable to break the ice. That’s exactly what Brainfish did with a Gold Coast Amazing Race, and it delivered plenty of laughs, teamwork and a few unexpected plot twists.

With perfect sunshine, stunning coastal views and teams ready to compete, the Gold Coast became one giant playground for an unforgettable afternoon of corporate team building events.

The race sent teams exploring some of the city’s best locations while tackling a mix of physical, creative and brain-bending challenges. From building the ultimate sandcastle on the beach to solving cryptic clues, every checkpoint brought a new surprise.

One of the standout moments came during our Time Zone Challenge. Teams had to purchase as many airline tickets as possible using the credit loaded onto their travel card. It sounds simple… until you realise every destination costs something different.

The red team absolutely nailed it.

Armed with just $15 on their card, they somehow managed to purchase more than 1,500 airline tickets. It was one of the best scores we’ve ever seen and had everyone wondering if they secretly worked for an airline.

Then came the twist.

Feeling unstoppable, the same team decided to use AI to solve one of our cryptic clues. Unfortunately, technology wasn’t quite on their side. AI confidently pointed them in completely the wrong direction. They missed an entire checkpoint and tumbled from heroes to proud owners of the wooden spoon.

Proof that sometimes trusting your teammates beats trusting your phone.

That’s one of the reasons we love every Corporate Amazing Race. You never know what’s going to happen next. The leaderboard can change in an instant, and every decision matters.

Beyond the competition, this event was all about bringing people together. With attendees travelling from across the globe, the race created genuine conversations, plenty of laughs and new friendships long before the conference sessions began.

The incredible Gold Coast weather certainly helped too. Blue skies, beautiful beaches and iconic scenery provided the perfect backdrop for an afternoon packed with energy and friendly competition.
