Geelong Amazing Race Gets Acuity PM Exploring the Waterfront

Conferences are great, but sitting in meeting rooms all day isn’t always the highlight. That’s why Acuity PM swapped PowerPoint presentations for a Geelong Amazing Race during their recent conference. Teams travelled from across Australia, with many meeting face-to-face for the first time. It was the perfect opportunity to get everyone laughing, connecting and working together.

Our Corporate Amazing Race turned an ordinary breakout session into an action-packed adventure. There was plenty of friendly competition, lots of teamwork and more than a few questionable navigation skills!

Running wild around Geelong

The adventure kicked off at the beautiful Geelong Harbourside. After a quick briefing, teams grabbed their clues and raced off through the city. Some carefully planned their route. Others simply followed the loudest teammate and hoped for the best.

One of the biggest crowd favourites was our famous Where’s Wally challenge inside Westfield. It sounded simple enough. Find Wally and move on. As it turns out, he is much harder to spot when 100 people are looking for him at the same time!

From there, teams headed towards the waterfront. Along the way, they tackled fun photo challenges featuring Geelong’s famous waterfront statues and colourful bollards. Some teams nailed every photo. Others got a little creative with the instructions. Let’s just say the judges had a few laughs.

The perfect conference breakout session

A Corporate Amazing Race is much more than running between checkpoints. It gets people talking, encourages teamwork and creates memories that last long after the conference ends.

For Acuity PM, it was the ideal corporate retreat break out session. Colleagues from different offices quickly became teammates. Soon enough, they were celebrating wins, solving clues and blaming each other for taking the wrong turn. That’s all part of the fun!

Finishing back at Eden Oak

As the race unfolded, every clue eventually pointed teams back to Eden Oak, where the conference was being held. The finish line was full of cheering, high-fives and stories about the clues that almost caught them out.

Some teams crossed the line convinced they had won. Others were just relieved they finally found Wally! Either way, everyone returned with smiles on their faces and plenty of stories to share over dinner.
