When 10 die-hard fantasy basketball fanatics needed a fair (read: brutal) way to decide their draft order during a boys’ weekend in the Hunter Valley, they came to us. And let’s just say, we delivered. What better way to kick off a wine-soaked weekend than with a Hunter Valley Gardens Amazing Race challenge… solo… and spectacularly hungover?

Draft Day, Garden Edition

The scene? Ten bleary-eyed legends shuffling into the Hunter Valley Gardens, sunnies on, electrolytes in hand, each praying their breakfast would stay where it belonged. These poor souls had spent the night doing “intensive wine research” (aka tasting everything), and now they were facing down a five-checkpoint individual challenge, because nothing says “team building” like watching your mates suffer.

Slingshots & Shenanigans

The real MVP of the morning? The slingshot challenge. One bloke’s attempt at hitting the target was so wildly off-course, we’re considering naming the shrub it landed in after him. Accuracy? Minimal. Entertainment value? Off the charts.

Our amazing hosts cheered (and lightly heckled) as each participant powered through solo tasks with the grace of a newborn giraffe. From coordination-based chaos to garden obstacle hilarity, it was the ultimate test of post-wine athleticism.

Let’s just say he had to be chauffeured to the finish line… and has now earned lifetime bragging rights as the league’s official lightweight.
