Wine, Wheels & Wally: A Martinborough Corporate Amazing Race

We recently hosted a Corporate Amazing Race in Martinborough for a small but mighty team. With just twelve people split into three teams, the day felt personal, relaxed, and highly engaging from the start.

The race kicked off with one of our favourite icebreakers, Where’s Wally. Teams hit the streets of Martinborough, scanning shopfronts and corners for Wally and her signature scarf. Very quickly, laughter replaced nerves and competition came alive.

From there, the race shifted gears into a driving Amazing Race, ideal for exploring the wider region. Thinking about hosting an Amazing Race yourself? Check out how it works to see how easily the format adapts to different locations and group sizes.

The next stop was Runholder Winery, where teams took on a barrel rolling challenge. This task tested coordination, communication, and teamwork rather than speed alone. It also delivered plenty of laughs along the way.

The adventure didn’t stop in Martinborough. Teams drove through neighbouring towns including Featherston and Greytown, solving clues and tackling challenges at each location. Every stop added a fresh burst of energy and friendly rivalry.

Because the group was small, everyone stayed involved throughout the day. This is exactly why team building for small teams works so well. No one fades into the background, and every contribution matters.

By the finish line, teams had bonded naturally through shared challenges and road-trip moments. The wine region setting kept the experience fun and unforced, while the race structure kept everyone switched on.

This event perfectly showcased how team building in Martinborough can feel both relaxed and impactful. With the right mix of movement, problem-solving, and story, a Corporate Amazing Race delivers connection without pressure, and memories that last well beyond the finish line.
