Proof That Turning 40 Gets Better With an Adventure Race

Turning 40 deserves more than dinner and a cake. For Cody, it became a full-scale Sunshine Coast Amazing Race, packed with costumes, competition, and unforgettable moments.

The brief was simple. Celebrate a milestone. Turn heads while doing it. Naturally, the dress-up theme was “something that turns heads”. From bold colours to questionable fashion choices, the outfits set the tone before the race even began. This was an Amazing Race for private parties done properly.

Beach Challenges to Start the Adventure Race

The race kicked off beachside with our fast-paced food relay challenge. It was loud, frantic, and instantly competitive. Costumes added to the chaos, while team strategies quickly unraveled.

Next came a sandcastle building challenge on Sally’s Beach. Creativity soared. Stability… not so much. Still, it was the perfect way to warm everyone up and spark friendly rivalry early.

Kayaking to Bribie Island for the Next Clue

From the sand, teams headed onto the water. Each group chose two paddlers to double kayak across to Bribie Island in search of their next envelope. Bright costumes bobbed across the channel as laughter carried back to shore.

Once the clue was secured, it was straight back across the water. Arms burned, spirits stayed high, and the Adventure Race was well underway.

Slingshots, Pool Toys & Relay Chaos

The action then moved inland to Kawana Sports Precinct. Slingshots fired, scores climbed, and competitive banter filled the air.

Soon after, inflatable chaos took over. Teams raced to blow up random pool toys before diving into relay laps at the pool. It was ridiculous, high-energy, and an instant crowd favourite.

Climbing Walls and Cracking Codes

Next stop: RockIt Indoor Climbing. Teams scaled the walls in full costume to earn their next clue. Heights tested nerves, while teammates cheered from below.

However, the challenge didn’t end there. Teams then cracked a cipher to unlock a briefcase, revealing the all-important lunch location.

A Well-Earned Lunch Break

A relaxed picnic lunch followed in a nearby park. Shoes came off, stories flowed, and energy levels quickly bounced back. Before long, it was time to race again.

High Ropes, Mazes & Where’s Wally

The afternoon sent teams to The Big Pineapple for ziplining and high ropes challenges. Courage was tested, screams followed, and smiles lasted.

From there, teams rolled into AMAZEworld for mini golf and a frantic hedge maze search. Hidden inside was Cody’s mum, proudly playing Where’s Wally, scarf included. Finding her became one of the day’s standout moments.

The Final Sprint to the Finish Line

The last leg took teams to Sunshine Plaza and into TimeZone. Lights flashed, tickets poured out, and teams pushed hard for final points before racing back to their host.

The day wrapped up at Pier33 with tired legs, big laughs, and well-earned birthday celebrations.
