An Amazing Race Proposal in the Heart of Sydney

Some events are fun.
Some are competitive.
This one was emotional, unexpected, and finished with a very enthusiastic YES.

A few weeks out, we received a quietly excited message from Jason (the boyfriend) and Sandra (the best friend). Together, they had a clear goal: plan a surprise engagement for Instagram influencer Veronica (@veronica_b) and make sure she had absolutely no idea it was coming.

They didn’t want a simple dinner or a standard proposal. They wanted something playful, memorable, and completely her. So naturally, they landed on a fully customised Proposal Amazing Race, designed to feel like a fun day out with friends… right up until the very last moment.

The Ultimate Cover Story

The key to any surprise proposal is misdirection, and this one was executed to perfection.

To keep everything under wraps, we invited Veronica under the guise of engaging her as an influencer to vlog one of our Amazing Race experiences. From her perspective, it was a work opportunity. From ours, it was the perfect cover.

Once everyone arrived, the day kicked off exactly like a classic Amazing Race with friends. Teams were formed, rules were explained, and the energy instantly lifted. There was laughter, light trash talk, and that familiar buzz that comes with knowing something fun is about to happen.

What Veronica didn’t know was that every challenge, clue, and checkpoint had been carefully designed to build toward one final, unforgettable reveal.

Racing Through the City

As the race unfolded, teams dashed across the city tackling a mix of fast-paced and playful challenges.

There was a bucket catch challenge that demanded teamwork and timing. A spices challenge that tested nerves and taste buds. And an arcade showdown that brought out everyone’s competitive streak, complete with cheering, dramatic reactions, and plenty of laughs.

At each checkpoint, Veronica received small pieces of information, codes that felt like fun race mechanics at the time. In reality, they were subtle breadcrumbs leading her toward something much bigger.

Throughout it all, the vibe stayed light, energetic, and social. Exactly what you’d expect from a well-run Amazing Race… and exactly what made the surprise work so well.

The Final Leg (Where Everything Changed)

Eventually, the race narrowed down to its final stage. This time, it was just Jason and Veronica.

Their last clue led them away from the chaos of the city and toward Gunners Barracks. The setting alone shifted the mood. Quiet. Elevated. Overlooking Sydney Harbour. Romantic in a way that felt intentional.

Here, the final challenge began.

Using the codes she’d unknowingly collected throughout the race, Veronica worked through the puzzle in order to reveal a code. She used the code to unlock the final case, to reveal her final prize!

Inside were rose petals and a card that read simply: “Will you marry me?”

As the realisation hit, she turned around.

Jason was already on one knee.

She said yes!!!!
